does the installation of a "gapper" put extra forward tension on the trigger pin?
I changed out the gapper that came with my LMT. Set up a good support for the trigger guard ear I used a block of wood and use correct roll pin punch.Go slow and you should be GTG.

This is the best solution I've seen so far. Looks pretty good.

Interesting. Does anyone have a photo of this on the gun?

You can see it on the bottom gun.

I really wish that the Magpul MOE grip had incorporated some kind of gap filler or covering, but I think the MOE+Gapper is the best solution for me.

Thanks. Looks like the grip's protrusion comes up over the gap area well enough, but does it extend forward enough also?

I've pretty much decide that too, and plan to just add a gapper to my MOE grip once I have something else to order. I like the MOE grip shape better than the TD.

This is probably a stupid question but, why is the gap an issue?

When I spend any amount of time with my carbine, even just a little dry firing, it rubs the top of my middle finger's middle knuckle raw unless the gap is filled. Even if I have developed a callus, it wears through it and scrapes my knuckle. It isn't comfortable, nor is it hygenic, so one of the first things I do is fill the gap somehow.

You must shoot with gloves, otherwise you wouldn't ask...

Seriously, for many people, that gap starts as annoying and ends up as painful as it abrades the skin off of the side of the finger. IMHO, sharp edges have no business near the grip area of any firearm.

Has anybody tried taking a heat gun to the Moe? Maybe if it was heated and bent a little bit it would fill the gap.

I have the enhanced aluminum trigger guard on my "built-up" carbine that has a Miad Grip, ACR stock, DD Omega rail, flip sights, etc. It was a pain to install - took forever to drive the roll pin through the hole in the guard. The Magpul roll pin wasn't up to the task, so I reused the factory roll pin. Maybe the hole was drilled too small on mine. I was very careful to support the "ear" on the lower so I didn't break it off, but the whole time I was concerned that hitting the punch ever harder would end up causing damage.

So I finally go smart and put the whole lower in a vice with rubber padded inserts. Pressed the roll pin in most of the way and then just had to tap it in a little further. Should have thought of that first!

So then I bought the Moe guard for my lightweight, all-Moe carbine - stock, grip, handguards, Magpul BUIS. It went on a lot more easily!

Functionally they are about the same.

I have two lightly used Gappers left over now if anyone needs them...

FWIW, I have both the aluminum and the poly Magpuls and can't tell any difference in them. Same slight gap when used with the Ergo grip and the MOE. One thing that I have found, there is a sharp edge on the aluminum version on both sides proximal to the grip which has caught skin from time to time. But I would not trade them for anything, best low cost investment I've made for my gubs.
