I just checked. I have 3 with the aluminum version on and none of them have the ears extending down past the guard. The setup is quite smooth and would not cause the problem that you speak of. I would buy with confidence.

Thanks for going to the trouble. I'll check out the aluminum Magpul.

I think it depends on how high or low the hole is relative to the ears on the lower.

That could be I suppose. I might have to try a few different trigger guards to find something I like. I'll take the rifle to Gun Gallery some time this week and see if they have anything on hand that will work.

Its only a 20 spot. And easily returned if it doesn't fit your criteria.

BTW, I checked out that Wilson job...it looks pretty nifty too.

I doubt you would go wrong with either one. At any rate, I'd lose about 5 seconds of sleep over it if I tried real hard. I remember the days when we would use a rolled up ear plug and jam it into that gap. Nowadays, the options are plentiful.

When I go to Gun Gallery this week I'll just have them yank the old one out and compare with whatever they have in the store. I'm sure all I'll have to do is hold a new one in place where the holes line up and I should be able to tell if it's going to work for me or not. I really don't care what it is, what it's made of, or who it's made by as long as it comes down at least flush with the bottom of those ears.

As an example of my hole placement theory, here's a polymer guard that's fine...

Yeah I took another look at mine and it's actually not as bad as the pic I used on the previous page of this thread, but it's worse than yours. I don't think I'll have too hard of a time finding a different TG that works.
