    A) I'm pretty sure you do not have legal authority to detain anyone from leaving.

    B) I will not be detained by anyone outside of LE. No matter the excuse or rationalization.

    A. We (none LE) cannot, but we have several off duty cops on staff so detaining you won't be a problem (if they suspect you).

    B. If you are trying to abduct someones child, I am NOT letting you leave (no matter what).

Not gonna get into a peeing contest, but let's just say that I will not be stopped in my movements by anyone out of uniform.

If you are going to detain someone under suspicion of abduction, you had best have a picture of the abducted child or know what he looks like personally and be ready to testify in court. Otherwise it will not end well.

I have but a few hard lines and that is one.

    A/S out.

You would be asked to stay in the building while we look for a missing child. Most NORMAL people have no issue with this.
It would be easy for us to get a badge in your face.

We ALWAYS have a description of the child and have the parent in the building to positively ID the child.

The county prosecuter an Sheriff are also in attendance so violating any laws are not a concern for us.

Since this thread is NOT about child abduction, feel free to send me a PM about your concerns.

Wow! Good thread Grant. I have grown a lot through making knives. Truley hard work pays off in every relm of life. I "TRIED" to make my first 2 knives but after those 2 that's when the work stared and it take guts to get out there and let it all hang out

Ill be the first to admit I need training to get better. I am not a high round count guy and classes pull me away from making knives (as I am part time) but threads like this keeps me looking for closer classes.

I am always thr first person to admit not knowing is how you open yourself up to LEARN. If you think you KNOW then it takes too much work to bust past that obsicle.

This will look REALLY good to your insurance company and will also look good in a court.

The first thing you need to do is prepare for the common things. They are:

Lost Child/lockdown (no one leaves the building)= Code Pink
Medical emergency (have a Doc or nurse on call for Sunday service)= Code Blue
    Fire= Code Red
Natural disaster (tornado, earthquake, etc)= Code Brown
Person of interest (possible molester, thief, etc)= Code Yellow
    Combative person= Code Gray
Combative person with a weapon (active shooter)= Code Silver

    Things to get:

Motorola radios (or use your cell's if it is a small church) with ear pieces
OC Spray (Fox Labs, Sabre, etc)
    Taser
    Handcuffs (multiple sizes)
    Med kit

For training, ask a local corrections officer to come in and show you pressure points, how to escort someone and take downs.

Master your evac, lock down and bad weather programs and then look at how your are going to deal with the angry person (with or without a weapon).

In God we trust. All others we watch.

Thanks again for the pointers. We had a meeting last night and are getting the ball rolling. Our pastor is very politically outspoken so we may have a higher risk level in the near future. If you have any more ideas please keep me informed.
