    Front Sight Adjustment

What is the average height adjustment for an AR front sight? I have a BCM middy with a Troy BUIS and it seems like I have to adjust the front sight so high to zero that it wobbles.

Is this a down side to BUIS sights with no elevation adjustment, or is this a common issue? I was attempting a 50yrd 200m zero when I came across this problem.

You do have to raise the front sight quite a bit for the IBZ zero or a 100 yard zero. And maybe you have the A2 FSB instead of the F-marked one.

Anyway, Bushmaster sells a 0.040" taller sight post that will solve your problem for about $5.50. I'll look for the link and post back...

    Here it is:
fourth item, A2 Front Sight Post for Flat-Top Colts http://www.bushmaster.com/products.asp?cat=21

BTW, this also is a common problem with rear sights with elevation wheels like the A2 and A4. They don't go any lower than your BUIS - but do raise higher.

Thanks for the replies, I do have an F stamped FSB by the way. I am new to AR's in general, so that is why I am asking. I also emailed Bravo Co., maybe their C.S. can offer some advice also.

I received another front sight post from Bravo, it is quite a bit taller than the original. I have it installed flush with the front sight base and it still sits above the sight well.
What should be considered too high? Anyone have any pics of their front sight post elevation? I will post pics of mine tomorrow.

your post protrudes above the FSB wings? thats gay.. i have never zerod at 100 with an AR, so i'm probably not much help.. but it sounds like either your FSB or rear BUIS is a bit out of spec. i hate using that term, but there's no elevation on troy BUIS, so there's really no other explaination (unless a 100m zero actually does jack the FSP up that much).

I have, in fact all of my ARs are zeroed at 100m...all of them have the proper height FSB though. None of the sight posts on my rifles extend past the wings, they come to right above where the wings start to angle out.

I haven't checked how much longer the tall posts are though.
