Now figure which dot belongs to which sight
Edited to clarify: the middle pic has all 4 sights at max intensity, first and third - max-1 intensity. My photo skills are, obviously, lacking and I couldn't get lower intenisties to come out well.

The Revolution will not be televised.
I do try not to post anyting nonsensical or ridiculous.
The purpose of my post is to challenge a failrly common debate "2 MOA dot vs. 4 MOA dot" and show that you can't really see the difference between the two most of the time. I could put just one of each there, but two of each make the point even better.
For starters, there is very few times when you need to crank up the brightness on a RDS.
True. I've never used either on max. Use of those settings for this "demonstration" is primarily due to lack of my photographic skills. The "second to max settings" is what I usually end up using in bright sunlight and light-colored terrain.
Regardless, these photos do illustrate what I wanted to show.
Since this post doesn't seem to present much interest, I'll name the dots. From top to bottom:
- 2 MOA dot of M4s that is closest to eye/camera ( LaRue mount)
- 2 MOA dot of M4s in the middle (OEM mount)
- 4 MOA (or whatever the true size) dot of Micro T-1 that is farther away from eye (KAC mount)
- 4 MOA dot of "suspended" Micro T-1.
I was hoping to show that often-debated difference between 2 and 4 MOA dots is generally a moot point. There is maybe one situation where I can tease it out. The distance between eye and optic affects perception of dot's size to a much higher degree.
Why do I see 5 dots?
Don't know, there are four, the top and bottom are the brightest, and two less bright are in between.
