Our government would rather cut our rifles into scrap or give them to some 3rd world country than allow vets to keep their service rifle.

Part of the reason that we live in a county that has never been invaded is the fact that other countries have taken into consideration that there is a very large armed population living in this country. It's sad that we are a factor in the equation when it comes to our countries overall safety and yet they don't trust us with acual military rifles.

Though this video depicts the coolness of being able to retain a service weapon there is a little more to it. All personnel are considered part of the militia after they complete their training and compulsory service.

Unfortunately Switzerland has also sacrificed much of their gun freedoms as well. Not all that many years ago you could purchase suppressors, full auto weapons and DD's. The laws varied from Canton to Canton, but nowadays it is very difficult to get anything.
