While I don't use it (yet), I see alot of people use the Mobile 1 oil on there AR's. Is there a recommended weight, or can you use any weight?

I use the really thick stuff, 10W-50. Works great here in florida.

I live in N. Illinois with a definite 4 seasons. I don't know if that would be to heavy in extreme cold temps.

Me, too, or maybe it's even 15w50.

Of course, it's rarely below freezing where I live. My logic was that thicker wouldn't fling off as much, and it would hold up under heat and pressure better.

Mobile 1? Is that a new cell phone?

Ya, I guess that does sound like a new cell phone company.

So, it would probably be safe to say that any weight would be fine.

Doesent it get down into the below zeros up there? im not really sure if it would be too thick or not. I guess you could try it out, i would think though that it may be a little thick in below zero conditions.

I use Mobil1 10W -30 on mine. It gets -0 here in north Idaho at times (like this last week)... ive left my rife outside for 6 hours when it was about -5 and had no issues. Also put a 1911 in the freezer last summer that had the same stuff on it and it worked fine. YMMV

The last 2 nights it's been around zero. We usually have at least 2 or 3 weeks of sub zero temps later on. As I get older, I just can't tolerate the cold like I used to. Its a good thing my work keeps me indoors most of the time!
