I'm in the Change The Mount camp, but agree that Loctite should be the first step. If your optic says on AND holds zero, rock on. Otherwise, invest in a better mounting solution than the POS that comes with the sight.

I've never gotten a satisfactory answer from any EOTech rep as to why they don't advise users to utilize Loctite. It doesn't make sense.

Send it back to get fixed. Then sell it on ar15.com for 700 and get a M4S

I appreciate the help. I see alot of people read Kyle Defoor's Blog.

Great hints but I have a couple problems....

    1. I have been planning on getting a LaRue mount pretty soon when I have the dough, however that won't do any good with the plate stripped. So that needs to be fixed or replaced. Which brings me to.....

    2. I don't think L3 will give me a new part free being that I bought this optic used

I guess i'll have to check into it.

BTW I already used blue loctite. It didn't losen. It just stripped and "slid" off.

    Thanks guys!!

Yep, Kyle Defoor has great timing on this as usual! He just posted this on his blog today: http://www.kyledefoor.com/2009/12/mo...ch-secret.html

Please don't assume anything. Give L3 customer service a call and tell them what happened. They may surprise you!

    Never, ever, use Red Loctite.

You might as well weld whatever you're putting together.

I used red loctite (before I knew better) on mine and broke the bolt off in the block when I took it off. I called the company to purchase a new block and told them that it broke due to my stupidity. They shipped me a new block and bolt for free. They did not ask if I was the original owner. I think I had the parts in about 4 days.

I've stripped more screws, and permanently assembled more items with red loctite than I'd care to admit.

It's magical, no doubt, but one better be DAMNED sure you want whatever you're sticking together to stay that way until archaeologists of the future dig up your optic.

Remember that the Red Loctite needs to be heated to loosen it....
