A year with the Glock 26

    Hey guys,

Each year I try and shoot a gun exclusively. I usually fail. 3-4 years ago I bought a P2000 and shot it around 13k in one year. The next year I bought an HK 45 and shot...13k in one year. Last year I shot 1911s after an abortive attempt to shoot a P7 for a year (sold the gun). Usually I get bored and start shooting another gun before the experiment fails.

So, this year I plan on shooting a G26 EXCLUSIVELY, for one year. I plan on keeping up with the weekly log on this threat for the whole year. I will probably attend at least two classes this year, including one at US training. I may compete in some local matches (baby permitting) also. I will try to include pictures of the gun and other things I see along the way.

I usually shoot about 200 rounds a week of full power ammo. Hopefully, I can buy the ammo this year rather than loading it (like .45 last year). I am starting to see 9mm on the shelves pretty consistently. I will probably shoot more than that, I usually do, but I am confident I can find 200 rounds a week without getting gouged too badly.

I have already ordered some Warren tactical sights for it. Hopefully I can get them on by next weekend. I will shoot it with the standard Glock sights this weekend.

As an aside, I decided to clean the internals of my G17 tonight. This gun hasn't been cleaned in 3-4 years. And it shows....

If you aren't armed when you take a dump in your own home then your opinion on what is a practical daily carry weapon isn't interesting to me.

Sounds good, I picked up a 26 recently to complement my 19 and to be honest I like it more! Especially after putting a 3.5 lb connector and big dots.

Awesome Greg, I'm looking forward to this! Years ago I bought a G26 for summer carry, when I usually wear shorts and t-shirts, because I was looking for something that concealed a little better than my G19. Summer came and sent and I was still carrying (primarily) my G26 and I continue to carry it year around to this day.

The G26 is my favorite Glock. I don't like Glocks all that much, but the G26 is a blend of size, power, capacity and reliability it's tough to beat. I lost my G26 to a buddy who needed a decent carry gun. I offered him a moneyback guarantee on my G26 and his response when I asked him about returning it was "Are you out of your mind? This thing is great! Only an idiot would part with one."

    "...."

".....well, I mean, not you of course, but...."

my 26 is my backup gun. it's also my i don't feel like carrying a gun today gun. it is a tough little gun. i recieved this gun from a shooting budies estate, so it had a few rounds thru before it came to me. since i have had it , i put 20,000 rds thru it about half being 124 gr.+p gold dot. all i have done to it was change two extractors and a few recoil spring assem.. it is a great carry gun, i find myself carrying it more and more on my own time than my 19.

But in fairness, a G26 on you is relatively speaking like this for the rest of us:

Looking forward to this Greg! Thanks!

I just bought a G26 a few months ago and will live vicariously through your reports, as I doubt I will be able to shoot as much as you do.

    I feel like a failure...

    Hey Todd,
A while back I saw a section/site where shooters could post their results of shooting a gun for 2000 rounds without cleaning. Could you point that out for me? Can't seem to find it again.
    Thanks

I can't speak for the M4C mods & staff, but if someone wanted to start a new thread here for the test rather than having to join CALIBERS, my feelings wouldn't be hurt.
