AK Familiarization/Operator Training on the AK 47/74 at MATR

Description: AK Familiarization/Operator Training on the AK 47/74 and Their Variants

    Dates: 28-29 April 2007

Presented by Mid-Atlantic Training Resources, www.ma-tr.com
Instruction provided by Marc Krebs, Erik Lawrence, and Others.

Course Cost: $500, including manual and lodging for two nights at our facility

Scope of Course: MATR will provide an intense two (2)-day course of instruction on the familiarization of the AK-47/74 and the variations commonly seen with these weapons. Class size is capped at 20. For beginners and professionals who use or admire the AK series of weapons, MATR and Krebs Custom will allow familiarization fire of their custom AKs during the course. Students will also have the opportunity to fire Marc’s MG42, our PKM Machine Guns, and the BHI SOPMOD AK.

    The course will cover:
    • Safe and proper handling
    • Disassembly/Assembly
    • Basic maintenance
    • Ballistic considerations
    • Functioning of the weapon
    • Tactical shooting drills and considerations
    • Low-light firing instruction
    • Suppressor considerations
    • Misfire/Stoppage drills
    • Sight adjustment/Battlefield zeroing
    • Optics
    • Implementation of the weapon as a modern battlefield rifle

This training has adopted a multi-tiered approach to weapons familiarization and safety.
    1. The first stage consists of classroom lectures by Subject Matter Expert (SME) Marc Krebs of Krebs Custom and individuals who have used the weapon system in various environments and conditions. Many are AK gunsmiths, so their level of understanding is very extensive.
o Basic skills, safety, and familiarization are emphasized.
    2. Stage two requires practical demonstration with each weapon utilizing live ammo.
o This section will feature advantages and disadvantages of various AK models and modifications. Conducted during daylight and low-light conditions.
o Accessories to enhance the AK weapons system will be demonstrated and discussed.
    3. The third stage involves additional variants of AK weapons.
o Instructors will conduct basic live-fire practical exercises in an explanation, demonstration, and application format.

Each registered student will receive a copy of the MATR-authored Practical Guide to the Operational Use of the AK-47/AKM and AK-74 Rifles prior to the course for self-study. This item is a $51 value. http://www.bhigear.com/index.asp?Pag...OD&ProdID=3218

Erik, this sounds like a great class that I'd love to attend. I'm already in an AK class the following weekend. If you can put together an AR class in August or early October, I'm there!

    class is shaping up

Still a few slots for this class. lucked into another guest instructor Mike Pannone, great tactical operator and great instructor. This will definitely be an informative AK class, not just the typical robotic shooting drills to burn ammo and make you think you did something. You will be taking some good info away from this one.
