First ALGORE stated that everything was getting warmer. Then when he realized that the Earth has actually be cooling (and many scientists are worried about another ice age), he changed it to "Global Climate Change." Basically stating that man is causing the Erratic shifts in temps.

I am sure when we go through a couple years of things heating up, ALGORE will go back to the "global warming" thing.

The ironic part is, there was no intent for the poster to cause an argument to begin with. It's like going to a steak house and complaining there's no Tofu. You are right about jokes appealing to the crowd and I'd guess that the OP was spot on with his audience, save one.
I also find it ironic that in a recent article, they'd published that polar bear breeding is UP. Imagine that, poor polar bears are so exhausted and hungry that the only energy they can muster is for sex.
It's funny overall. Humans are so ignorant of their impact. AlGore and his ilk are spewing this crap in hopes to "save the earth". I've got news for him, the earth doesn't care one iota if we're here or not. It got along just fine without us for hundreds of thousands of years, it'll get along just fine when we are gone. AlGore isn't spouting this crap because of his concern for the earth, he's doing it to make money off of peoples fears. There were dominant species on this planet before us, and there will be dominant species here after we are gone and turned to dust. Humans will have their time, and that will be determined by our ability to adapt, not increasing mpg by 2% or by culling China to a few less metric tons of waste per day. Do we need to be good stewards of the ship we're on? You bet, but falsifying data in order to do it isn't the answer. Our (perceived) mastery of technology hasn't conjured up a solution (or the stolen data tapes, sorry for the Star Wars reference, it just jumped in there) because it's not profitable, not because they can't do it. There's just no money in it yet, once there is, solutions will pop out of the woodwork.
Time flies when you throw your watch.

Carlos,
In the spirit of greenhouse gas emissions ...
I break wind in your general direction.

This isn't the graph I was looking for, but it's to late and I'm headed for bed now.
If you look at the whole picture, you will see that we are normal right now and not at any "Hockey Stick Al Gore BS". He did not show the whole picture, just the very short past. This planet can and will take care of itself. After all, for those who believe, Who created it?
Periods of Earth warming and cooling occur in cycles. This is well understood, as is the fact that small-scale cycles of about 40 years exist within larger-scale cycles of 400 years, which in turn exist inside still larger scale cycles of 20,000 years, and so on.

Example of regional variations in surface air temperature for the last 1000 years, estimated from a variety of sources, including temperature-sensitive tree growth indices and written records of various kinds, largely from western Europe and eastern North America. Shown are changes in regional temperature in ° C, from the baseline value for 1900. Compiled by R. S. Bradley and J. A. Eddy based on J. T. Houghton et al., Climate Change: The IPCC Assessment, Cambridge UniversityPress, Cambridge, 1990 and published in EarthQuest, vol 5, no 1, 1991. Earth's climate was in a cool period from A.D. 1400 to about A.D. 1860, dubbed the "Little Ice Age." This period was characterized by harsh winters, shorter growing seasons, and a drier climate. The decline in global temperatures was a modest 1/2° C, but the effects of this global cooling cycle were more pronounced in the higher latitudes. The Little Ice Age has been blamed for a host of human suffering including crop failures like the "Irish Potato Famine" and the demise of the medieval Viking colonies in Greenland.
Today we enjoy global temperatures which have warmed back to levels of the so called "Medieval Warm Period," which existed from approximately A.D. 1000 to A.D. 1350.
