    Red Dot sights

I'm getting a new flat top AR-15 and wondering what red dot sights I should consider. I like the EOTech 552 and the Aimpoint m3 or m4 but is there any other red dot sights I should consider. I'm also planning on running some flip up front and rear sights. Also pros and cons between HWS or red dot reticals.... thanks

I bought a EoTech 512 for my Colt 6940 for $340 after $30 rebate. Works great, takes "AA" batteries, and was really quite affordable.

Aimpoint T1. There is no other RDS.

Actually any of the Aimpoint RDS will serve you well.

I stay away from the EoThingy.

For a more affordable option if being used for plinking and range use, check out Primary Arms:

Don't bother with the primary arms, not even for a .22, unless you wanna replace batteries every 2 weeks, T-1 or H-1 is the way to go.

I have an EOTech but it eats batteries, If I could afford it I would go ACOG....

Not my PA battery experience at all, nor from reading the experience of others.

They're an appropriate tool for some situations - range guns, training guns, (in my case) for trying out the concept of a particular Aimpoint form factor before dropping substantial coin.

No, they're not sights I'd use if I were going into danger, but they're much, much better than the price would leave you to believe.

I disagree. You don't need to leave your optic on with a range use gun. The Primary arms sight is fine for training guns. The T1 or H1 is the way to go for a work gun.

Maybe mine was defective, even turned off it drained the battery.
