    Need Help From Sling Experts...

    Ok, I just got a WCA SG551.

Basically it is a SIG 556 with a original Swiss 551 lower. Unlike a true SIG 551 it does NOT have a sling attachment point under the rear sight. I am hoping to come up with some method of using a single point sling.

The only sling mount point on the rear is on the end of the folding buttstock.

As you can see with the sling installed, folding the buttstock and slinging the rifle would be a convoluted affair.

I also don't want to do any permanent modifications so screwing a sling attachment point into the rear of the receiver is not an option.

I know I could strap around the thin part of the buttstock and create a sling attachment point that would be more or less like that found on an A frame folding AK74 stock but I was hoping someone might have a better idea.

I only wish the rear of the rail had sling points.

    Anyone have any ideas?

That would pretty much be the strap around the thin part of the buttstock option I mentioned. I was hoping to come up with something that wouldn't be on the folding part of the stock.

A few places make a strap on sling point. Does the Blue Force wire offer any advantage to strap on attachments like those sold by Blackhawk? It looks like it would move around more but I've never used one.

Without having it in my hand I was thinking of running part of the UWL wire across your top rail to lock it forward...

What about one of those Daniel Defense rail mount sling points?

EDIT - no, apparently not DD, let me look.

I was right, it's DD - just not shown on their website. I don't know how the balance and hang would be with a sling point mounted to the side forward of the rear sight, though...

That might be my best option. Maybe even put it behind the rear sight.

DD also has an offset that takes the PB QD type swivels. DD does not make it anymore except on custom runs but some still have it in stock (like me ;-) )

Happen to have a pic? I think I'm sneaking up on my solution along these lines.

I'm also looking at this one from Troy. Looks small enough to go in front of or behind the rear diopter on the rail without interfering with sights or causing a awkward hang.

I'm thinking I might be able to have enough room to clip in with a HK type claw.

I have this up front on my M4 -

VTAC sells this rail mounted sling point that gives you a couple of options -
