It would be nice to have some like minded shooters nearby, lol. Mostly hunters around here who see no need for ar's, unless its one of the new remingtons. Do you guys have decent ranges to go to, or do you shoot on privately owned land?
Let's see if you can get a Mississippi sub-forum going on in the Regional Training section. We could set stuff up in there and check the sub-forum every couple of days to see what eachother's up to.
Any Admins can hook us up?
i go the "magnolia pistol and rifle range",, located at byram, 5 miles south of jackson. i've got a lifetime membership there, shot nra-highpower, and ipsc there. i've often wondered if we could promote some "known" instructor [s] to hold a class there. everytimme i go there,, there is several folks shooting ar's,, should be easy to get enough to make it worthwhile for someone to hold a class
Yeah acmen I agree. There are a ton on gun nuts in Mississippi which is great b/c they all believe in gun owner's rights but like you said they're only interest is in hunting not tactical/competitive shooting. They view the AR like a Ferrari. It's just something cool to look at and thats about it. It would be great if we could get something started.
Oh yeah to answer the question about where I shoot there is a range about 10 miles from my house in Moselle. It's a decent range and the owner is super nice but it is NOT set up for our type of shooting. Every time I go there I have to set up my own barricades and pull out the steel plates from my truck and set them up. Pain in the a%$.
On the Coast. Jackson County.
Country Boy, here in Collinsville, north of Meridian
Alright well we've got Natchez, Magee/Mendenhall area, the coast, and Collinsville so far.
This place is right across the border into LA down I-59. Probably about 45 minutes south of H-burg. It's a damn good range.
Reactionary targets are available for shooters. These include steel gongs at the rifle range and falling plates, dueling trees, rimfire spinners, and pop up targets at the pistol range.
