Looks great! I just finished a 14.5 build but once parts become more available I want to start a pistol build and send off the SBR paperwork

Thanks I picked up a BCG so it is complete and functional as a pistol and in 6 to 8 months I can put a stock on it and it will truly be done.

Good deal. One thing Ive been wondering is, do the pistol buffer systems function the same as rifle/carbine buffers? Meaning once you find a buffer/spring combo that functions well, will that swap over to your carbine buffer tube and work the same once you SBR the lower?

    Thanks

I suppose that depends on what pistol buffer assembly you purchase. I bought the Phase5 Tactical setup. It came with a carbine spring and what they call a standard mil-spec buffer. It was like $75 with shipping and it works great with my setup.

Nearly all "pistol" receiver extensions are the normal carbine or "entry" length inside.

    The differences are external.

They use the exact same buffers and springs inside.

You generally have your choice of CAR,H,H2 etc.

I would think that an H or H2 + std spring would be a good starting point for most purposes.

I am running a sprinco blue extra power spring and a spikes ST-T2 in my 10.5 LMT pistol and it has never missed a beat. I run the exact same in my 14.5 DD carbine gas system and all of my 16" mid lengths. They all run perfectly.

Can you not put on a rifle extension and get A5 performance out of it?

I only ask out of ignorance of pistol setups.

Pistols are no different than SBRs from a buffer functional perspective.

You can put a rifle extension + rifle buffer to get rifle performance.

You can put an A5 extension + A5 buffer to get A5 performance.

A biasing spring can be added to a rifle buffer.
