    Warriors Magazine From The 1980s...

In addition to reading magazine like Soldier of Fortune during my formative years, as well as watching films like The Exterminator, Dogs of War, First Blood and reruns of the original Death Wish on the then new marvel known as cable TV I also devoted a lot of time to Warriors magazine.

It was kinda like SOF meets Black Belt with a good amount of cheesy advertising thrown in for good measure. To the young preteen/teen that I was, it was simply marvelous. Thank God I kept many of them.

Had interesting articles about future speculation of law enforcement. Including something called a Taser.

The Uzi was brand new to the US.

Even back then they argued about terminology.

Reagan was kicking ATF ass so hard people speculated on if he would disband the agency.

HK was screwing with NFA dealers even back then.

But they had cool shit so we bought it.

The Army was kicking around the idea of replacing the 1911.

    And some genuinely good articles.

    And look at those prices.

    And of course...the advertising.

Man I wish I could still buy Dolan's Sports nunchaku...best ones ever made.

I got my first Blowdart gun from SOF. Man, this thread brings back memories. I have a collection of 70's Guns and Ammo. Had to buy it though, still collecting. Wish I had saved all of my SOF mags. The 80's were a good time to be a youngster. Thanks for this thread, and all the great photos.

Would that happen to be a Jivaro blowgun? I still have mine.

I used to write a lot of articles for martial art mags back then. I think one of them was in Warriors. They didn't pay very much...

Ah the nostalgia of that era. I forgot about all those mags, SOF being my favorite, but I was riding my Big Wheel at the time.

Did Judo as a kid, then went in the Army, got out and been doing classical Japanese martial arts since 1982.

Jeez, that mail order Ninja shop was housed in some prime NYC real estate.

If only you could do that today
