    Belgian Mals

Anyone else here have experience with one? Just adopted an 18 month old and he's really starting to work out as a pet and home protection dog.

I have had one for 10 years, they are a great and loyal breed. Great dogs, sometimes they are alittle sensitive in nature but once you realize that its easy to work around. great looking dog you have there

I'll let you know in a year. we are the very tired owner of a 7 month old malinois puppy. :-D

if you let them get bored, they'll so get into some kind of trouble. Mine has learned how to operate both the microwave and the *inside* locks on the bathroom door.

All that said, if you work them, they're awesome.

we're consulting a schutzhund guy in Strasbourg here soon to get some help with keeping his drive up.
He's actually grown since we took this pic.

Yeah, I had him evaluated by a K9 handler. She said he is definitely from a European working line. Man, did he ever bond with me! Affectionate too. After having a German Shepherd, the difference in shedding and grooming is awesome!

    Great dog and breed.

    Great looking specimen you have.

Worked with them alot in Astan & DoS VBIED units etc.

They are LOYAL, swift, lean, steathly, streamlined, great leaping ability, can be finicky/tempermental/intuitive at times....

Pay close attention to their moods, EARS and body posturing....

    Enjoy your new BEST friend.

I don't have any experience with them, but they are beautiful dogs.

I was watching whatever that dog competition series is, and a Bel Mal beat all the labs and everything in the jumping distance competition and the jumping height competition. It was his first time in the distance competition. That dog was something else.

It might be something to think about for you to keep your fella busy. He's a good lookin' dog.

Dogs have the ability to recognize "goodness" in people and will bond with you very quickly (especially if they came from a bad home previously).

He was pretty much ignored with no discipline, Grant. His training to bite the crotch of certain local, HK packing pistol instructors is going well

Dogs (like kids) need attention and discipline and will operate much better with it.

If he can establish an interest in biting anyone with an interesting carrying an HK in the "appendix" positino, then he is a GREAT DOG!

mind if I ask who did the eval? Was she with one of the Schnd clubs?
The Mali's much more emotionally needy than GSD's. Must keep them busy.

give him a job, like washing your car or something.
