I recall one rangemaster who used to clear customers' stuck rounds/casings by holding the rifle vertically, muzzle up, then dropping a long steel rod through the bore. I honestly can't say what proportion of rounds he cleared were live rounds vs. empty cases.

At least he had the muzzle and butt of the rifle pointed in safe directions. I don't know whether he ever had a detonation.

That rangemaster ran a pretty good range and was willing to help customers with their problems. One customer complained to him about a new gun "jamming." "What type of ammo are you using?" "Some reloads that I bought at the gun show," was the answer. I just laughed and walked away.
