Building an AR doesn't require large investments. Fancy tools won't make a better AR, at most it will make assembling it faster.
Not that I would ever buy a second hand, home built, gun....but remind me not to buy yours.

    Maybe some other small thing?
Like a torque wrench? Maybe a good set of gauges?

Sure, you can piece together the parts with a fairly basic set of tools and some elbow grease. But it wouldn't be something I'd trust my life to unless I knew it was built exactly to spec.

I've assembled 11 or 12 of them (both for me, and for some friends), and it is not possible to assemble a "better than BCM/Centurion/Sionics" rifle for less than a factory BCM/Centurion/Sionics rifle.

If I were to buy the components today, I'd choose:

    Sionics barrel and BCG
    BCM MK2 Stripped Upper
    FCD 6315
Geissele MK IV handguard and Super Gas Block
    BCM/Colt gas tube
    Geissele/Centurion/BCM stripped lower receiver
    Sionics LPK
    VLTOR A5 Receiver extension & H2 buffer
    LaRue MBT fire control group
    Radian Talon Ambi Safety
Geissele or Radian Ambi Charging Handle
    Magpul ACS
    Magpul MIAD
    KAC Micro 300-600 BUIS
    Aimpoint T2

Excluding the optic, even getting everything on sale to some degree, this would end up costing me $1,300 to $1,600.

I agree with LowSpeed HighDrag's last post.

    Buddy,

I'm not here for a pissing match. I won't use an AR that isn't built to spec. Have fun with yours.

That's all I have to say about that.

This thread isn't about if you would use an AR that I assembled...
