Any of you out there with the BADs have premature contact between the BAD and port side of the upper receiver? If so, what did you do to mitigate contact?

Could you post clear pictures of the issue?
I'm not really sure, but it could be something with the lower?
Will be able to this evening.
I don't mind a little bump-n-grind here and there but the issue that I'm having is that this contact engages the bolt catch a bit - not fully, but a bit.
No pics, but I found the culprit.
One of my LMT uppers is a bit too wide.
Portside pic:
Shoddy pic of how close the pre-engaged bolt catch comes to the bolt:
I have a few options (in no particular order):
1) Get rid of the BAD on my secondary carbine, which is nearly outfitted the same as my primary.
2) Pull the barrel off of an absolutely reliable and proven LMT upper and throw it on a CMT flat top receiver w/M4 feedramps.
3) Grind a bit off of the LMT upper where the BAD contacts the receiver and lose the surface hardness in that area provided by the HC anodizing.
4) Suck it up and learn to live with it.
What say you folks?
is it affecting reliability? if not go #4, if it is, then #1, the other choices are too extreme
I just installed one on an LMT receiver without issue. It also has to negotiate a Redi Mag and works without any problem. I have a second LMT that I will install a BAD lever on when I get it (should have ordered two).
Mine doesn't look much different than yours. When you say it "engages the bolt catch a bit", what happens when you rack the charging handle with no mag in the gun? does it lock the bolt open when it shouldn't?
I'm not sure how your upper could be too wide since the real issue is the clearance from the back of your bolt catch to the side of the receiver.

So far, not affecting reliability. I am a little too paranoid about the bolt locking back unexpectedly with the pre-engagement.
Agreed, but in this case I believe it is a combination of the back of the bolt catch and the receiver itself. This particular receiver has been on two other lowers and has marks where the bolt catches on those lowers would actually hit the side of the receiver. None of my other receivers have such marks.Originally Posted by DWood
Just to describe it a bit. The BAD would engage ever so slightly when the upper receiver is installed as the backside of the BAD/Bolt Catch would contact the receiver, causing it to move outward a bit. I have tried two different LMT uppers, a BCM, Bushmaster, Armalite and CMT and none of them cause a pre-engagement like this particular LMT.
As an update, I got a little bored and took an old rusty bolt catch and ground the backside of it off a few thousandths of an inch. Cleaned it up a bit and installed it in the lower along with the BAD. Voila. hardly any engagement and it is good to go. Taking it out tomorrow to test.
Yes, I know that I probably obsessed over this a little too much...
