    Safety Pins

Since the forum seems to have a wealth of practical experience (and I don't) what do you use them for? I thought it would be interesting to see what medical uses everyone has for safety pins. Here are a few to start.

Airway (pin tongue to lip, avoid the sides of the tongue, alternatively use two safety pins in tongue and tie them to the patients shirt, etc. if feasible)
    Finger Splint
    NPA Length Adjustment

Let me add the caveat that I have not done any of these in real life. Splint and NPA adjustment I have done in class/scenario. Airway, I can't find a volunteer!

They make a great splinter removal tool.

There is also a video there of using one as an emergency suture.
