Civil War Docter Kit
I was recently given a Civil War era Doctor Kit By a friend. I was struck by how some of the main instruments such as hemostats had not changed in the realm of form or function... then again niether has the human body lol. However the manuel was a bit outdated. It even had vials of opium etc (All dried out and usless. Cut it was cool to see the lay out)The opening passage of the manuel however was terrific:

I was at the fort below the san fancisco brdige sight seeing they had an amputation kit. It included a gigli saw and an amputation knife. I swear I must have used during residency in Vermont.....
