I like the flexibility of going the all-new upper route. Given that modularity is one of the things that makes the AR system so versatile, why not capitalize upon it? A little more initial expense will buy you almost twice the capability. Sounds like a win-win to me.

    Now that is just mean.

I want to say I read it on custom barrel makers website. But it could be what he was saying is he will not/can not do it.

Anyway if people more knowledgeable than I say they can do it, then I assume that they can do it.

It still doesn't change my original thinking, with the price of barrels vs. the cost of custom work, I think I would buy a new barrel. Or it I had more money get a second upper. Or take this as an opertunity to buy a second gun.

I'm not sure about the $125 price I saw quoted above.
That must have included profiling and re-parkerizing as well.

A simple shorten/thread/crown/gas-port job runs $45 if you pull the barrel off and send it in.
The threading will be concentric to the bore and well within the specs that all the suppressor makers want.
Others here can surely attest to the quality of my work.
