I just want to say that my opinion is only that, just an opinion. Again my opinion is only based on aesthetics and not functionality. Having said that, I do not like the look of the 2 screws on the RVG vs the MVG, I understand the reasons for it and the mounting, but the screws just look cheap. I also do not like the blocky looking profile of either the RVG or MVG. Again kinda blocky and cheap looking. I somewhat feel that way about the MOE handguards also, even though I put one on my sons Noveske. Kinda cheapy looking IMO.

My set of IWC mount points arrived today. I got 3 - one each as sling points and one for an index point/handstop on the bottom.

At first I somehow missed the plastic tool strips. I emailed IWC, they responded back quickly on a Friday evening! They offered to fedex me a plastic tool strip the next morning, for arrival Monday AM. GREAT service. I cannot overstate that enough.

I tried using the strip for install, but I found it easier to place the little mounting tab through the slot, then hold it in place with an allen wrench through a nearby slot. That was enough for me to easily hold the nubs to the rail and screw it in.

I checked to see if you could put them in the upper set of slits, but it has to be the side or lower.

I installed the three as such (shot of underside):

    Here's a side shot:

And the mandatory full shot, yet fuzzy from the bad cell camera hold:

I am able to hold the front of the rail, with my pinky crushed against the lower stop just fine. If I hold the rail closer to the magwell, my index and middle fingers split over the nub on the side of the rail across from my palm, making for a very secure grab.

    Awesome nubs.

    MTechnik,

Thanks for posting that and the pics. Is it a clearance issue with mounting the IWC in the upper slots?

Yes, they don't clear the area where the handguard bumps up to the rail. If someone were handy and had the right tools, they could probably grind the side down enough to fit.

I've been working with a prototype of the TRX-E handstop IWC will be releasing shortly - if you are a handstop guy, you'll like this one. It direct mounts to the tube very much like the QD mount I showed above. I'll try and get some pics up.

I think IWC is gearing up to release a whole line of accessories for the TRX-E...

I got to handle one of the prototypes at a gun show recently, and I agree, it felt really nice.

I will probably ditch the MVG that I jury rigged on the hand guard once this comes out. Seeing the light mounts they are working on almost made me wish I had waited on the midlength MOE to come out. Good stuff.....

Excellent - I cannot stress how much difference direct mounting my AVG made in the profile of my TRX, when compared to mounting it on a rail. A handstop that mounts the same way would be welcome. Oh well, more stuff to buy from IWC.

I assume this is the same part I have, and I'm very impressed by it so far.

I remember reading about this way of mounting the AFG a while ago, but can't find the link anymore. Would you mind sharing if you have it or know it?

I believe it is - I was originally going to forward you the one I had for T&E , but I think Earl sent you an unfinished one. I'm looking forward to seeing how the final part looks!

IWC is seriously kicking butt when it comes to developing innovative widgets, and their time to market is pretty damn amazing.
