Question Mounting a red dot for witness/no co-witness

I understand the point of co-witness. The dot lines up with the iron sights. The 1/3 lower option I guess gives you better field of view so the post is not as much in the way? Is that really worth having such a tall scope ring?

What about a flip-up front sight? Wouldn't that be the optimal setup so you could use a shorter scope ring?

I just went out and bought the ARMS 41 Silouette folding front sight so I didn't have to deal with the post being in the way.

It looks killer. How much did you end up spending on it?

I sold a car to a guy that owns an Armory and so I generally get good deals from him. I paid 130 for one with the bayo lug and I think it would have been 5 dollars cheaper without. RockRiverArms.com is one of the cheapest places I found it. I like like 145
