Also, how is the quality on that FSP?
I posted some pictures below to show the ammount of material that had to be removed to install the rail using the YHM front sight. As fas as the quality of the sight.. It has a pivot pin that is prone to walk during firing, I fixed this problem by staking the edge of the hole on each side to capture the pin. I changed out the mounting bolts for stainless steel hex head bolts and tiny stainless lock washers and they have yet to loosen at all. This gun now has a 1x4 scope on a Larue mount and I like having the front sight folded completely out of the way when not in use.

Had it been an option, I would likely have just bought the Omega X 12.0. They just aren't building them yet. I also got the Omega X 12.0 FSP for just $165 shipped, so...

This upper will go on a Tactical Innovations Billet lower. It will be a very lightweight yet extremely useful gun!
That's a great price you got 'em for! Please post pics when you build 'er up.

The PRI .625 is a no go... It is too wide, and too long. Dremeling on this one is not an option. If you dremel'd the sides to make it fit, it would still hit the rail when flipped up.

I think I am at square one, ARMS does not do a .625, nor does anybody else that I can think of...

Okay, I found out MI does a .625 version! Looks to be shorter in length, and narrower than the PRI version. Weighs 5.3oz though, I wonder what a standard FSB weighs?

I did it I cut my front sight off of my Colt and ran a Tango Down rail cover over it. Does not look half bad.

Agreed - I may do the same to mine. I love my DDM4, but the front sight base seems to be right where I want to put my the side of my thumb on the rail. I may grind mine down, or pin a lo-profile gas block for a cleaner look. As much as I want to throw a folding front sight base from VLTOR in that gap, I don't see the point in taking a chance of burning myself on it (very likely, all my rifle training has shown me to be a pro at getting burned) if I can throw a rail panel over that spot and put a MBUS or Troy folding sight on the forward rail. Since my primary sighting system is an Aimpoint H1, and they tend to be tough, I'm pretty sure a quality rail-mounted folding front sight is enough backup for my civilian needs.

That said, some XTM rail covers on the side rails may do enough to keep my thumb away from a FSB. Must shoot more and find out for sure.

Edit - tried the full profile panels,, and I'm going to remove and trim/grind down my FSB tomorrow, KG Gunkote it, and re-install.
