    Question Iron sights

There a a million choices in buis. Are the for the most part pretty similar. Is it more of your taste in the way they look with all pretty much the same function!

I'd say generally yes. I'd stick with the quality manufacturers for durability reasons. Choose what suits your needs and will be compatible with the other equipment on your particular gun - optic, etc

Different strokes for different folks. Depends on your needs and applications. Some of my rifles I prefer a flipup sight (Troy or MBUS) and on others I prefer a fixed sight (Larue, DD). Just have to find what works for you.

I have YHM flip rears on both of mine. inexpensive ($80.00) and they work well. They dont "lay down" flat but they leave plenty of room for my acog (on 1 gun) and EOTech magnifier (on another) above it.

    Highly dependant on application.
Some irons will offer things that others do not.
Some are intended only as close-range back-ups to a primary optic and some are intended to provide precision at long range. While many are very similar, to lump all BUISs as the same due to being visially similar would be incorrect.

What can you say about ARMS 40, I have an ARMS 40, are they good for an adjustable rear sight? I am planning to use it as stand alone, means there are no scopes installed.

I must say that the Magpul BUS isnt for me. I had one for the rear and a standard front. I was 9" high for POI and no more adjustment from the front post. The post was all the way up almost coming out. I was told to get a taller front post and that the magpuls are made to be together with the Magpul fronts....same height, so I sold it and went with a YHM flip rear. Realistically, most of us are not going to battle so buying the best money can buy would definatly be up to the purchaser. However, I am not saying to go the cheap way..you get what you pay for. I have heard that the PRO MAG BUIS come loose and adjust themselve (windage) when they are flipped up. (not all of them..but enough of them). Troy offers a great BUIS with night sights. I know Matech BUIS are good and offer long range adjustments to 600 meters and are military issue but I wonder how long the little "nub" that holds down the post, will last. Enough up and down flips would wear it out. I would think that the users cash flow, the users intended use (plinking, hunting, battle), and application (depending on optics), and taste for looks would ultimatly be the deciding factors....Like I said, I went with the good quality yet middle of the road priced YHM and have had GREAT feedback from my setup...(rear of ACOG over it on 1 AR and EOTech magnifier over it on another AR)

Your decision should be based on funtion and then quality. Either you prefer a fixed rear sight or a folding rear sight. If you like a fixed the Larue can't be beat. For a folding style Troy makes the best. I have the Troy on my 6920 and am very pleased. There are many that are cheaper, but they are not the same quality... JMO.
