Hey just wanted to hear what some people would prefer micro T1 or comp m4 up's and downs of both......?
Been thinking about a T-1 for some time now, as I have a Comp M4 on my gun now. When I had a Comp M2 I loved the bigger dot, I think it's a 4 moa, and initially didn't like the 2 moa on the M4. Now that I've had it for some time, I really can't see going back to a 4 moa. The 2moa works just fine for my primary mission of entries, and it's still good back to 100y plus.
The 4moa on the T-1 is the primary thing that's holding me back from getting one. Well......that and my buddie spitting up the $300 he owes me so I can drop the coin on it.
Reply from another thread on another board. Most of the info was in reference to the Aimpoint magnifier, but some good info on the T1 vs. M4 / M4S as well:
Aimpoint M4 = battery box at the 1 o'clock position
Aimpoint M4S = battery box at the 5 o'clock position
The Aimpoint 3x magnifier butts right up against the Aimpoint M4 because the M4 mount doesn't interfer with the 3x magnifier and the battery box on the Aimpoint M4 (located at 1 o'clock) doesn't interfer with the 3x magnifer mount:
Often times on the internet things get regergitatied several times and guys don't understand the how's or why's behind things. I have seen several guys recommending turining the mount around on the M4S in order to get the 3x magnifier closer to the M4S.
The LaRue throw lever mount on the M4S has nothing to do with getting the magnifier as close as possible to the M4S. The problem with the M4S is the batter box is located at the 5 o'clock position, and the batter box is in the same position as the pivot point on the LaRue 3x Magnifier mount.
If you are a left handed shooter, this is a non issue, because you have the LaRue 3x magnifier mount turned around 180 degrees (throw lever for the magnifier mount will be on the ejection port side of the gun, and the pivot part of the mount is on the left side of the gun and won't interfer with the battery box of the M4S). If the 3x magnifier mount is set up for a left handed shooter, you can get the 3x magnifier as close to the M4S as the 3x magnifier and M4 pictured above.
Aimpoint 3x magnifier with Aimpoint M4S. Note how the pivot portion of the 3x magnifier mount is located in the the same area as the battery box on the M4S. The battery box / pivot location is the issue with this set up, not the mount on the M4S. Hopefully this pic will give you a better visual:
The Aimpoint M4 and M4S have a 2 MOA dot. The Micro T1 has a 3.4 MOA dot
The Aimpoint M4 and M4S in a LaRue mount weigh 12.8 oz. The Micro T1 in a LaRue mount weights 6.4 oz.
The Aimpoint M4 / M4S is approximately $200 more than the Mircro T1.
I have found that I'm slightly faster with the Micro T1 due to the small tube size (kind of hard to explain but due to the small footprint of the T1 there isn't much in your field of view and I find that I can get on target a little faster with the T1).
Currently I have (1) Comp M4, (1) Comp M4S, and (13) Micro T1's.

Hope this helps
I have both, but have not run either extensively.
Biggest thing I noticed right away was the much smaller window of the T-1. I'm really used to ~30mm tubes, so trying out a 20mm (I might be wrong on the size here) felt a little off for me.
I don't know how to describe it, but when I put on my T-1 it feels...'claustrophobic.' Perhaps a little like tunnel-vision?
On the other hand, the M4 offers a better FOV, but IMHO it is a heavier optic. (T-1 weighs 3.7oz with mount, M4 weighs 11.8oz w/ mount....almost 3x the weight).
Regardless, you can't go wrong. Both are rugged sights. I would be more comfortable using the M4 as a primary optic, and the T-1 as a close range/shotgun optic.
ETA: USMC03 offers some really good advice, so check that out before buying.![]()

What are you going to use it for?
I have both and they are both phenominal in their own way.
I have the T1 on my primary 14.5" M4. Weight on that matters to me because I have to schlep that thing all over the desert, up and down hills for miles at time sometimes. I've also had to stand for 10 or 12 hours with it on protection details. The M4s is on my personal "patrol" rifle that I'm not as concerned with weight on.
If weight isn't an issue, the M4 (or M4s in my case) is a tank. The single AA battery lasts a ridiculous amount of time and are readily available. The T1 is almost as tough, with battery life that's just as good, but the battery is not as common. May matter to you, may not, especially since it lasts so long.
I find the adjustment knob on the M4 easier to use, epescially with gloves, but its not that big of a difference.
As has been, mentioned, the M4 series can be had with a 2 MOA dot where the T cannot. In my experience/opnion, a lot of people aren't 2 or even 4 MOA shooters, so that doesn't matter to me as much. I don't notice a difference in speed of acquisition either, but YMMV. Stay safe
The optic will be put on my go too gun witch i have tried to build as reliable as i could but building a tough gun turned out to be building a hefty gun/ pof p-415 16" lol. I realy like the comp m4 because of the 2 moa and the AA.....but it just seams a little to heavy. i guess i just notice the swing weight. I also keep thinking that i can reach out a little further with the 2 MOA.![]()
Remember that there is no such thing as a free lunch.
Thanks for the input guys...![]()
I really like my M4S and prefer it over the M4...I don't plan to get a magnifier but if I do I'm sure it won't be an issue to have a little space between it and the M4s.
