I have an older Stag lower that I bought during the pre-Obama scare for $160. I am starting a new build and was wondering about useing this lower or maybe getting another if the quality would really be "better". What say you? Thanks...

The lower is not the critical part of the AR. That said it is entirely possible to have an out-of-spec lower.
Your Stag will probably be just fine.
as long as its got holes where its supposed to and non where it shouldnt, it should be fine. As previously stated, the lower wont make or break the gun, the parts inside it and on top will tho![]()
Is it a complete lower, or a stripped lower?
I would have some suggestions for parts if it is stripped and needed to be finished. But, if it is complete, there should be no problem with it.
put a stag LPK in that stag lower, and you're likely to have a good lower receiver assembly.
stag doesn't produce the best rifles, but they make good individual parts.
It is a stripped lower. I will need to build it up. That will include a Geissele trigger, I think. Who's LPK would you use?

I like your trigger choice, the rest of the parts from Stag would be fine.
What kind of upper are you going to use? That would help people give you suggestions for a buttstock and a grip maybe, if you need more ideas.
I use a Vltor Emod buttstock and a A2 grip with my BCM 16" Middy for example. Others will have different ideas.
