But, because after using the BAD for a while, and really considering the way it works, and the increased leverage you can put on the catch while using it, I feared it may cause a failure. I actually figured the roll pin or aluminum ears would fail, or the BAD clamp would loosen or fail, before the catch itself would break, though. I agree, it does seem your LMT catch was most likely faulty, though.

While I LOVE the ability to manipulate the catch with my trigger finger, I just don't think an add-on lever is the best way to achieve this. I wish someone would come out with a lever that was one piece (BAD lever and catch, in one machined piece). I would consider running something like that. Then again, you would be putting a large, higher leverage lever on a mounting pivot, originally designed for a tiny lever.

Again, I love the BAD for its intended functionality. I just can't completely trust it on my duty gun, at this point. Plus, I don't want my range guns to be vastly different, so it won't go on those either.
I agree with you to much leverage He;s just lucky it was the catch button and not the ears on the reciever.I would hate to have to buy a new lower over a $29.00 part

I honestly can not see how the ears could break off.

I honestly could not have imagined that the steel bolt catch would snap, either.

by looking at it the bolt catch snapped at it's thinnest point which is way thinner then the ears on the receiver. I replaced the Bolt Catch and re-installed the BAD. It sure looks like the part was brittle...I will give the BAD one more chance but if it breaks another bolt catch I'm done with it. I think I should note that the rifle was still working with the broken BC. It locked the BCG back on empty mags but I had to release it by pulling the charging handle.
I'm writing this off as a learning experience.

    Magpul bad

I'm not surprised this has happened you're stressing the mag catch in a way it was not designed for.

How did it perform at class and what were your overall thoughts?

I'd be more suspect of LMT's parts. They have a knack for justifying cheapers ways to make things.

Although I do find the BAD to be the pinacle of silly nonsense for the AR. It can be handy for the match toys, but I would never put one on a fighting gun.

    1. Sacrificing ambidextrous functionality for only a modest gain of speed on the right-hand side
    2. Left hand reloads often lead to dropping the bolt prematurely (btdt)
    3. Accordingly for southpaws it's just about worthless (I've tried)

The boonie packer option is the only one I'd consider.

It was just dandy. I'll start a separate thread about it.
