    Thoughts on new trigger

I received and installed my new SSA trigger today. Prior to purchasing, I read all the reviews I could find. I saw words like butter and glass. I read reviews touting how great the triggers feel and how they're the best investment you'll ever make.

I have to say that I'm not that impressed. Perhaps it needs to be broken in before I can judge it. Perhaps my LMT single stage wasn't as crappy as I thought. Perhaps I don't have discerning taste. Regardless, it's nice, but I'm not sure it's $170.00 nice.

    Anyone else have similar experiences?

    Just to clear things up....

How many rounds on the SSA?

    Has the SSA failed you?

How many rounds on the LMT trigger?

Has the LMT trigger failed you?

Neither trigger has failed me. Zero rounds through the SSA - just installed tonight. 1500 rounds through the LMT trigger.

I'm not trying to bad mouth SSA, just sharing my initial observations. Perhaps the SSA just needs to be properly broken in.

    So what's the problem?

    - Gritty
    - Heavy
    - Not crisp

What claims did the company make?

    I've never used one...just asking.

    Thanks

Me thinks you should hold off a review of the Geissele trigger until you have at least 1/2 of the rounds you have through the LMT trigger.

No, the trigger is as advertised and works perfect. I guess I just expected more of a difference between it and my USGI LMT trigger.

M4 is right though that I should wait to do a review until after I've broken it in. Don't want to spread any rumors that might damage anyone's reputation.

The SSA is a 2 stage combat trigger.

Maybe you should have gone with a different 2 stage if you were expecting more of a "match grade" feel although IMO the SSA is very good in it's own right.

I personally love them, and have 3 of them now along with 2 KAC triggers.

Also wait until you get at least 500rds down range with it before making a decision. Just snapping it on an empty chamber isnt a good indication of what its going to do on the range. When doing drills I can notice a huge different between a USGI trigger, and an SSA. The USGI almost is like fighting the gun to get a round off. The SSA is very smooth, and easy. Also better for shooting groups...

If you still don't like it after shooting at least a few hundred rounds you won't have a problem selling it for a bit of a loss.

Probably 100+ rounds on the SSA and you'll notice a marked difference in the SSA and the LMT single stage.

The SSA's I've shot were really, really smooth. Nice break. Nice weight. Best I've ever felt? Not even close, but dam workable for a durable AR trigger.

I just put a SSA trigger in one of my new builds also !! On initial first pull and repeat pulls after,,I didn't think it was that good,,not really bad either !! "BUT" after putting grease in the correct spots as stated in the install directions,,it got MUCH better !!! I have not been to the range yet with it,,, but in playing with it it seems alot better and I'm sure it will be great after I get some rounds through my new setup !!! Weather is NOT cooperating up here in CNY !!! I am fully confident it will be a awesome trigger once I get to working it some !!!
