Hey StevieTerry:
I own the S&W M&P. I have the "brown" one (I know "FDE", but let's keep it simple

) Color doesn't matter, attachments don't matter, different grips, highspeed guards, lights, lasers, optics etc etc...it all adds up to alot of stuff you MAY not even need or WANT. I've shot my rifle as often as possible since buying it and anyone here can tell you they never get to shoot enough.
What I'm trying to say is that looks and style don't equate to what a rifle is supposed to do: provide a "positive ballistic impact on target". If you can't shoot the damn thing, if you can't hit what you MEAN to hit, if you can't call EVERY shot because of a lack of training, all the pretty colors and bipods in the world won't help you.
Training can be as simple as developing a training plan or goal (LOTS of info on this site to help you with that), going to the old strip mine with a few magazines AND ammo, and following your plan. Firing rounds at random crap does nothing but build bad habits which can negatively effect the way you shoot, what you hit, and take away from your enjoyment of the exercise.
Now, about the rifle. You will LOVE the S&W M&P. I bought mine a few days after it came out (only one in the gunstore!), I paid $1350.00 for it, and haven't looked back. You are getting a deal on a great rifle for less than a grand, bro.
Good luck with it, keep your head, and STUDY what these gentlemen (and some women I believe) have to say on these forums. It is GOLD.
Stay safe and keep your head down...

For everyone else, I stripped off the MOE handguards and put on a midlength rail with an FSP cutout, added Magpul's AFG, and promptly fainted from sheer happiness. That thing LOCKS in place now (relatively speaking).
