Yea, I had a 67 Chevy P/U catch on fire and will never buy another GM.

    So, back to the topic.
Who consistently makes a 1/9 barrel with an in spec 5.56 chamber and gas port?
I would consider buying one for a training upper if DD made a CHF version.

I don't really. I was just trying to get us back on topic.

What if you had a Chevy blow up and a bunch of others that were lemons. If you bought another you would be a fool in my opinion. Why do you want a 1/9 twist?

Personally I think you should have gone with the fact that AKs suck and ARs in 7.62x39 aren't reliable.
Rob the fact is that good 7.62 ammo is not readily available. We can't just argue about theoretical possibilities. We have to acknowledge the real world of ammo supply.

In my experience Corbon ammo has been junk, perhaps they have improved but I am not going to give them a second chance personally.
I am excited about the new Vmax bullets coming out for the 7.62x39.

For the record I don't believe AK's are junk. I like them. I have not seen a reliable AR in 7.62x39 however.

Back on topic. I just don't see a good reason to buy a 1/9 twist barrel.

1/7" was introduced to stabilize M865 tracer.

If you're not shooting tracer, you'd be better served by 1/8" for the heavier rounds.

The least spin you can put on a projectile while maintaining it's stability is preferred.

1/8 twist barrels are great but try finding a chrome lined one. 1/8 twist barrels are pretty much all stainless match barrels which is fine on a competition or a hunting rifle. But for a self defense weapon I want a chrome lined barrel.

No doubt about that. For my application I find the 1/7" twist excessive. Personally, if I found a 1/14" twist barrel in my profile - it would be on my rifle.

Are you shooting 40 grain bullets for varmit hunting? Not sure why such a slow twist would be desirable?

Yes I do. Additionally, I've heard the 55gr projectile will cause more damage when it has just enough stabilization rather than more than enough. I think excessive twist could be a factor in less than desired stopping power with current 5.56mm loadings.
