A little night time fun with the KAC UNS-T

Thanks for the input on what you are currently running. I am currently in the process of trying to find some glass for my SCAR17S. It’s odd that one can shell out $2,500-2,700 for a rifle and then not want to put an equivalent priced optic on it! I am currently trying to decide between a Vortex Viper PST 1-4X24 or a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 x 32 Compact. Either will be in a LaRue Tactical mount. Most of my shooting doesn’t take place over 400yrds but I would like to think I could if I wanted to. I think for the SCAR 17S platform 600yrds is pushing it because the weapon is good but its purpose was not designed to be a precision rifle.

I wouldn’t rule the SCAR out as a long range rifle. I have had no issue taking it out from 400 to 1100 yards. Now at 1100 I’m at 40- 50% on hits and at 27 mils of elevation (wind is also a bitch on a bullet going subsonic.) Now i know the trigger is very limiting towards accuracy, but with a geissele drop in two stage the scar will keep up with an SR-25 all day. So I would strongly look at the nightforce 2.5-10 and also a geissele trigger even if its $400. With that combo you have a awsome rifle even if your shooting 400 yards.

I am thinking of going with a new Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 3.5-10x40mm (30mm) M3 with an ILLUM TMR reticle which I can get for $986 and plan to mount it in a LaRue LT-158 QD Mount. Whenever my new SCAR17 decides to come in that is.
