I glanced through the hand book but will be honest i didn't have a lot of time to get deep into it because I have like 3 tests this week and finals next week. My last two gun buys have been kind of disappointing. fml
Take a deep breath and relax. A small amount of play will not affect POI. If you want it a little tighter, just follow the instructions I posted above and save yourself the trouble of sending the gun in. The rear sight does not lock up, but is held firmly in position by a spring detent. It was designed that way so it could fold down in the event of a hard impact instead of breaking or being permanently damaged.

Thanks dog, honestly I'm hoping it's not as bad as i thought it was last night.(didn't pick it up till 12:30) Haven't been sleeping to good with finals coming up and shit, i just noticed it last night, put it back in the case and tried not to think about it. Googled it this morning and found this thread so figured i would vent. When i get off work I got class and then i'm going to really check it out.
That's what i figured about the rear sight, and now that that's the case I like it. Can't wait to shoot that badboy this weekend.

Most that I have seen have 1-2 mm of front to back play in them, which is normal. Side to side is usually very minor to nonexistent. The instructions noted above will remove side to side movement, but can also make deploying the front sight a little slower due to the tighter fit creating resistance. I would shoot it before doing anything. If you decide to tighten it up, use a light touch or you risk bending the rail at your own peril. After all, they're called back up sights for a reason.

Mine was really bad front to rear like something was messed up. I got it second so I do not know what the deal was.

Anyway I sent it in and they replaced the whole fold up assembly with a new one and it was good to go.

Knight's customer service is great to deal with.

That sounds like someone bent the front sight assembly.

It wasn't bent, it just was like something wore out and there was way too much slop front to rear.

IMO they really need to be spring loaded from the get go like the URXIII is/was.

I was thinking that maybe it took a hit and wallowed out the slot that interfaces with the steel locking bar? Just a wild guess on my part.

I actually took my front sight off and used a towel and a pair of pliars to squeeze in the rail (URX-III) a bit. Took a huge amount of slop out of it. No horizontal movement, very slight fore and aft.

If KAC was to ask me, I would machine the front sight out of steel, and hand fit the locking bar to the sight to give it a more positive lockup. The slight weight penalty would be worth it IMO.

It had play like that happened but the rail itself was in mint condition, there was not a scratch on it.

Send it back to KAC if you want. They will fix it.

Congrats on your purchase BTW. The SR15 is my favorite AR....
After further review, there is no side to side movement. Just the front back that everyone seems to have. I can not wait to get some rounds down range with it, i really can't wait to throw a T-1 on it. Been shooing my SGL-21 since i got out the Corps. I think my AR love is back. (I had to go KAC, right before my first deployment to the box my blt go issued them. They were awesome)
