    Hensoldt 2.5x magnifier Question

Ok guys just got my Hensoldt 2.5 in. Got a question. I have not noticed this on any of the others that I have see here. What is it and can it be taken off without messing up the optic?

    I know they are fuzzy.

    Thank Casey

That is the illuminator rail. If you shine a flashlight on it you will see the range finding reticle light up (if you haven't removed it yet).

On a side note, the magnifier you have there is the 2.6X magnification. The ones that Larue used in their Po Boys are only 2.0X magnification. I have both models and find the 2.6X variant more useful.

I thought about removing the rail as well but decided to just mount the magnifier upside down in a fixed Larue mount.

It's an excellent piece of glass for a fraction of the price of a genuine Aimpoint 3XMag.

Good to know about the 2.6X. I have the same magnifier and did the same thing by leaving it on and mounting it upside down. I'm impressed. Can't go wrong with the cost of this setup.

Yep I saw where it said 2.6. Been playing with it, glass is bright and clear. Haven't decided if I'll take the reticle out yet. Waiting on the mount now. Cant wait it's drivin' me nuts here.

    Thumbs up

    Looks good.
Does the recticle get in the way? A pic would be worth a thousand words.

Not to me really. I thought about taking it out. But have decided not to for now.
Hell the red dot and one of the aiming points damn near line up together.

Had some fun with it 2 weekends ago. 200 yards. Nitogen tank.
