My duty Glock 17.5 and it's probable replacement, the Walther PDP full sized.
-The Glock has Trijicon sights, RMR Type 2, CHPWS plate, Tango Down Slide and Mag release, finally a Dawson ICE magwell.
-The Walter is stock with RMR Type 2, and CHPWS plate.
    -X300Us for weapon lights.

I have Glock 17 gen3 and Glock 19 gen 4 and both guns work perfectly. I had more than 100k rounds shot out from my Glock 17 and it still works flawlessly, but I think it is not so ergonomic as the Glock 19.
The SEALs defaulted to the G19, which is standard for SOCOM, when their SIG contract expired. More to it than that but that’s the basics. Sone parts of that community are running other guns.

In general the role of handguns in special operations forces differs from the role in conventional units..

If by ergonomics you mean feel, feel is both subjective and worthless. If you mean actual shooting performance some people perform the same with G17s and 19s. Most shoot one or the other 10% to 15% better due to individual factors.

So now you have a glock for every room of the house. No one will catch you off guard.
