Just buy an old microwave, stick in a closet and put everything (obviously of reasonable small size) you want to protect in there. It acts as a faraday cage and protects the electronics. Problem solved and you can concentrate on things like food and water

If you are looking for a way to store equipment sensitive to EMP I think the handiest way to get the Faraday cage you need is to just use old microwave ovens. If they keep microwaves in they should keep a EMP out.

I'm sure that since we would be looking for ones that don't function, they should be available fairly cheaply
