So how many rounds fired are we talking about before accuracy suffers due to barrel heat with the pencil barrel? 15? 30? Will this come into play in a carbine course? An how fast is cool down?

What's the weight savings compared to a regular 16" middy?

i don't have a scale. Daniel Defense said their M4 pencil vs M4 govt was a 6oz difference. Im assuming it will be a similar figure for the middy even tho its BCM. Its also weight saved towards the end of the barrel so it moves the center of mass towards the shooter more instead of it dangling at the end of the barrel

Lightweight will cooldown faster because its less metal to cool, but it will heat up faster. Well it is govt profile under the handguards so I dont see its heat properties as any different than a govt profile. The end of the barrel is the part that has metal taken off. I dont see it being a problem on a semi. Heck M16A1s were pencils and they had automatic.

I think a pencil carbine barrel will be lighter, cuz there will be 2 more inches of pencil in front of the front sight tower

    According to AR15barrels.com:
Gov't barrels usually have a long taper from 0.675" to 0.625" under the handguards.
According to Bravo, the ltwt middy has:

My digital caliper is dead at the moment, but eyeballing the hash marks on it, the ltwt middy I got on Monday does seem to be 0.575" forward of the FSB

yea I noticed the govt taper too, thicker at the chamber end for obvious reasons and thinnest near the gas block. Are all pencil/lightweights suppose to be govt profile under the handguards? I would think so for durability purposes

You can also see from the second pic, some extra metal is removed near the handguard cap. Man my Delton feels like a pole compared to the lightweight

No, there are straight .625 barrels like this:

Which I believe is what DD is doing with their pencil bbls

I can see a taper from the chamber end towards the gas block. Forward of the gas block definitely looks like a pencil. If this is a pencil picture, it doesnt look .625" all the way through.

That's about right, my lwt middy arrived yesterday and my postal scale shows a 4.8oz. difference....it does not sound like much but it's essentialy letting my H1 micro ride for free.

I look forward to shooting this upper...it seems to balance really well.
