    EOTech 553.. Good match for a DDM4?

I am having a hell of a time trying to figure out which EOTech to go with on my soon to be ordered Daniel Defense M4. Will the 553 fit without a riser? Hows the quality of the 553? I am not going ACOG, and I just seem to like the EOTechs better than the Aimpoints... Any thoughts on the 553 and DDM4 pairing?

I have a 553 and have never had any issues with it. It does not need a riser for a lower 1/3 co witness with iron sights. It's not a cheap sight and if you prefer to reduce the weight a bit, go with an Aimpoint Micro T-1.

have you looked at the Eotech XPS? They are smaller, with an improved battery, and battey housing.

    Mount and batteries...

552 - AA batts, and regular screw/clamp mount

553 - CR123 batts and duel lever QD mount

Looking at the XPS now.. Looks nice, but I cant figure out what the last number means in the model number, like the XPS3-2, XPS3-1, and XPS3-0... What does that last number correspond to?

Do the XPS have a QD? I thought I read the 553 sat a little higher than the normal 512, do the XPS sit as high for 1/3Cowitness?

the XPS-3 is night vision compatible, and the XPS-2 is not. The 2.0 is the standard 1 moa dot with the 65 moa circle around it. the 2.1 has just the 1 moa dot, and the xps2.2 has two 1 moa dots, 1 over the other.

The XPS does not have a qd, but its easy to take on and off with a coin. It sights even with the buis. I bought a riser, the LaRue riser, and that gives it a lower 1/3 cowitness.

If you don't need night vision then skip the xps-3 and go with the xps-2

Lets see if I get this.

The 2.0 Has 1dot in the center, and the circle outside of it, like this pic

The 2.1 has just 1 dot, No Cirle, like an Aimpoint

The 2.2 has just 1 dot in center, another dot below it for more distant shooting, no circle?

    Is that right?
