SA MC Operator vs Kimber Warrior

They are about 100$ apart. Aside from the visible stuff and personal preference ie Lanyard loop vs Not,color, any reason to side with one vs the other?

Does the Warrior have any beveling in the magwell area like the Mc OP? things like that.

I've seen some great versions of both in here. Desert Warrior owners are included of course.

Just my opinion... I know of several MC Operators in service that have gone to high round counts while giving excellent service, and very few problems. I know of other SA's (lightweight Champions) that have had some problems, but SA customer service is great and they made it all good.

The few Kimbers I've seen, including a brand new Desert Warrior, wouldn't run out of the box. I think Kimber's CS did work on them, but don't know the final result.

In the end, the SA is a known quantity, to me. MC Operator is one of the best values in 1911's out there.

I vote Operator. I posted in a bunch of forums a while back asking for a comparison between the two... I'll post the links on Tuesday when I'm back at the computer I have the URLs saved on...

But in short, here is why I think the operator is better:

    - rail is flush with the frame, the kimber has a lowered rail
    - the rubber wrap around is more comfortable (that's personal, but I held both and played with them a bit)
    - i've heard that SA has far less problems as far as parts and out of the factory functionality / accuracy
    - SA warranty (lifetime)
    - no firing pin safety (70 series)

Both guns are a good choice, but like I said, from the feedback I got from others, SA appears to be a slightly better choice. There have been more bad experiences with kimber owners than operator owners that have chipped in with their opinions when I was doing my research.

Like I said, I'll post those forum links in a couple days.

I don't have personal experience with a firing pin safety vs. non-firing pin safety, but from what I've been told, the trigger pull is smoother if there is NO firing pin safety... and you already have the grip and selector safety (in other words, you're covered).

I'm sure someone else can chime in and give a proper explanation tho

"For a factory light rail gun, the Springfield Loaded Full-Size MC Operator (PX9105MLP), with the green and black paint job, is a leading option. It bridges the quality between the Loaded and TRP grade 1911s and is an excellent value. These guns exhibit excellent overall build quality and tend to run well out of the box. The correct Picatinny spec light rail, corrosion resistant finish and overall configuration of the MC Operator lends itself well to duty use. The TRP models with the standard dust cover (PC9107LP Stainless, PC9108LP Armory Kote) are also excellent choices for a traditional format gun." ~ Hilton Yam

I read a bit on www.10-8forums.com and they will not even recommend the Desert Warrior. The only thing I remember about them is that they do not run consistent out of the box. If I was you I would stop by and read up a bit. There is several excellent articles regarding the exact thing you are asking. The guns they do endorse are Springfield if that helps you. Nonetheless, swing by there and take a look.
