FWIW, I had a Kimber Warrior. It shot fine and I can not recall having any issues with it whatsoever. I ran it pretty hard and was always happy with it...

Then all of a sudden I get a call from my buddy at the shop saying there is a TRP Operator (I know, not the exact model he was asking about) available for a ridiculous good price. The Kimber was sold within minutes and I bought the SA. Upon shooting the TRP Op, it is hands down far more accurate than the Kimber was. I love the front strap checkering on the SA. I am very happy with my choice (other than the rear sight on the TRP Op) and won't look back anytime soon.

BUT had the SA never shown up, I would be putting in my vote for the Warrior. So I guess, what this long rambling boils down to is in my opinion they are both fine choices with a big nudge towards the SA

I Vote Warrior because I have owned it for two years and it runs like a wild dog on my G.I. 230gr. reloads, 500rds throught it. I wish that Kimber would give a life time warranty with its handguns and SS barrels and real Ed Brown beavertails installed and Novaks sights. I have a new Desert Warrior w/ 300rds of my reloads through her. I am thinking about a buying a third Warrior. I want to get Ed Brown memorygrove beavertails installed on all three of them. I know it doesn't matter, but I like the fact that Kimber uses .45acp firing pins, insteed of 9mm/38super firing pins.

I have both and like both. I tend to gravitate towards my Kimber more, but they are both great guns. I have not had any problems with either of them. The Kimber just seems to operate smoother and has a better feel to me. You can't go wrong either way!

The MC Oper is far closer to the mark than any Kimber II, but in my experience still can benefit from some additional refinement--fortunately the Custom Shop at SA can easily upgrade the MC Oper.
What upgrades do you recommend, Doc?

I upgraded my TRPs with known quantity internals (replacing MIM components), Ed Brown grip safety and Mars Guns arched mainspring housing with integral lanyard loop. Both TRPs did not have the ejector pinned so I had that done, too. Both had been fired about 1k rounds so I knew the extractors and firing pin stops were okay so the originals are now backup parts. I don't think the work I had done would equal the difference between a TRP and a Professional though.

For a duty gun, I'd prophylactically have SA upgrade any suspect/lower quality parts with high quality TRP Pro level components. For a range gun, I'd shoot the snot out of it and then send it to SA for a rebuild using better parts when something breaks.

Well my buddy Victor (thanks!) pulled some strings and got me a NIB MC Operator. First impression, it is far better built than I had expected. The frame to slide fit is very good, borderline tight. I had figured it would almost rattle. Fit and finish is very well done.

I'm going to do a bit of a project with this gun. I'll start taking photo's and document everything. First up, complete cleaning and lube with Slip EWL. Then I plan on shooting 1,000 rds through it bone stock with the addition of CMC Powermags-no cleaning. After that, I'll add a Mars Armament magwell, heavy duty pin set, 17lbs recoil spring, 19 lbs main, Wolffe extra power fire pin spring, and do some filing on the thumb safety as it is rather sharp. I'll probably go ahead and fit and extra extractor and FP stop, and leave the rest alone.

I also plan on letting some of my teammates and training partners take it for a while and shoot it. I'm just curious to see how it holds up. Hopefully it will be up around 5,000 rds by December and I can report back on any issues.

Here are at least 24 reasons to avoid the Kimber "Warrior"

With the Colt rail gun out in black now, there is no reason to consider the Kimber or SA.

The Colt is the closest to a milspec 1911.
