If it's of interest, Bushmaster's super light does have M4 ramps now.

I did a couple retro's recently, got one barrel from Daniel Defense(they actually answer the phone and take orders) and the other from Bushmaster.

I got the Bushmaster for my XM177E2 build since you can get it w/o the lug-saved me from cutting it off.

The DD went on the IDF-nice and light. I think that in the past if we had these choices readily avaiable, most would opt for the lighter barrels.

cavalry arms sling especially made for the MkII lower. Only $19 pretty cheap but I wish it were longer. I cant wear it under my left armpit and over my right shoulder while aiming the rifle without changnig my stance. No Biggie only $19

The only AR I have ever owned has a light weight barrel on it, my Colt 6530.

We have been selling DD's HF barrels at an alarming rate. To me personally, the M4 and HBAR profiles are stupid.

Either go Pencil or Govt profile.

Thank God. Hopefully this causes the manufacturers to take notice.

What is the reasoning for not using a can on a pencil barrel? I'm assuming there will be more POI shift?

    I have a M4-2K on a 14.5" N4 barrel. I get a 4:30 shift of 1-3 MOA depending on ammo fired.

POI shift is the concern. Then again, the SCAR barrel is a pencil type so it might not be that be of an issue.

I will do some testing with a pencil build (using a SF can) later this Spring.

Considering that 80% of us never run anything other than the cheapest 55gr and 62gr ammo we can find, the added steel on the barrel isn't going to make enough of a difference. Except for a couple shooting positions, I'll never see the accuracy potential of even a mediocre LW barrel.

The only reason I'm sticking with the one medium contour barrel I have is to reduce POI shift with an OPS 14th.

I'm new here but not to this world. Sorry I don't always auto search something that pops in my head. And I posted redundant on the other active pencil thread.

Grant and Rob are right M4 profile is stupid and need to go away. Grant right again about HBARs. (Made me think back when the first modern ArmaLite 20" AR10s were all HBARS. What a mess.)

I'm trying to configure four M4 types. Just got my first 14.5" and my first middy in one BCM upper. I believe BCM when they said they made these to be sweet shooters.

Later 3 pencil bbl rifles for wife and sons will come online, one 14.5" and two 16"s. I see a DD 16" middy 6.8 upper in the very near future for me.

Why doesn't BCM do a 6.8 middy? They just sell the Stag carbine?

    Carried one in RVN..with 9ID & MRF..in the Delta....always worked just fine...

And we poured a lot through them..lead & mud and routinely sighted them in at 100 yds
would not have wanted a HBAR or even a Govt Profile 20" given all the other stuff we had
to hump + mud poundage on the feet.

Looking back imo a mid length light wt or medium contour 16" would have been ideal

With 12.5" for the CP -RTO, medic, and Plt Ldr
