Ive got Armalite,Bushmaster,DPMS and most recently LMT ambi's of various years of manufacture going back at least a decade, and I truely can see very little difference in the parts. In fact I think they were all coming from the same manufacturer/supplier there for awhile as they were identicle to include the YFS screws. Some time better on the detent than others, and some are smoother(not as gritty) on the detent than others(my only complaints)even from the same manufacturer/supplier.
As far as the gap on the right side, the differences Ive seen is in the receivers being a hair different in thickness/manufacture from the various builders/suppliers.
Otherwise Ive seen no issues with the lever having a very slight gap and apparently its intentionally engineered into the part as the area is relieved during manufacturing and probably due to slight tolerances in the different manufacturers receivers.
For instance the pic provided by Quiet-Matt you can see that front side of the selector shaft is basically flush or recessed with the receiver, while the back edge of the selector shaft has a slight protrusion beyond the receiver making it look almost canted.Either the selector port in the receiver is drilled off a very slight amount or the manufacturer milled some material off the external surface in that are causing the gap between the ambi lever and receiver to look even larger.
Regardless as long at the selector fulfills its intended purpose I see no issues.
