The first I've heard of this sight also. I just did a BCM build that needs a red dot. I almost bought an eo 512 until I read this article. With eotechs reliability issues I may have to go with the Elcan.

It does look fairly large but not much bigger or heavier than the aimpoint m4. Great battery life, looks solid. May have to keep my ear to the ground for a bit but it does looks like a good alternative.

I purchased one from what I have read here and some other places and I just received it today. The sight itself was what I thought, big chunky, well made everything seemed right until I mounted it on my 6920, It just won't seat flush in the mount no matter what I attempted, you can tell the male and female sections of the mount don't mate up by the way the screw heads leave a way off center mark on the under side of the mount. Long story short..good optic shitty mount and its getting sent back. I just wanted something that looked different and I've learned if ARMS or Larue does'nt make a mount for it...you don't want it.

It should have had an integral ARMS mount, which is one of it's more likely-to-crop-up problems, as ARMS mounts may as well be manufactured out of the back of an El Camino, for all the (total lack of) consistency from mount to mount of the same type.

Did yours have a mount other than ARMS? If so, what was it and what did it look like? If they've switched, that's new to me and I'd like to know what I'm dealing with down the road.

Or did you mean to refer to ADM?

    Duder0351,

On the one I originally wrote up the mount came already attached to the RD. We just placed it on the appropriate spot on the rail and snugged it up with the plastic knob on the side.

What kind of mount did you use?

PS: Its been a few thousand rounds since being installed and my initial misgivings about the plastic tightening knob have proved unfounded as it hasn't come loose.

Nice review. having a small budget, I'll have to factor when will the EOTech EXPS3 in tan be available for the civi market sale at an affordable price, compared to the benefits of this nice unit.

I prefer the EOTech ring and the smaller size, but the increased battery performance in this unit and possible lower price is a big plus.

    Update on my problem.

I talked to Ted from armament tech. and he is sending out two new mounts for the optic and was shocked there was a problem. He added " if that does'nt resolve the problem we will send you out a new optic and mount, no matter what... we will make this right"... I was really pleased with the way he handled it.

After returning from work a friend of mine looked over the problem and within a few minutes came to the conclusion the holes in the mount are off the center line length wise and no measuring needed to be done, it was pretty obvious.

    Just a heads up.

Well guys... I got the new mount after almost two weeks (thats just the way it is coming from another country) and everything seems just fine. There is clearly no cant. I have not fired the weapon yet but I'm not expecting any problems. Ted from Elcan owned the problem right out of the gate (I love that) and made it right.

One side note you guys might want to know...with all the handling I've done with this optic over the past couple weeks I had the rear lens bumper pop off and it came off rather easily too. I took care of that with some gorilla glue but I really should'nt have had to. Is it that big of a deal?...I guess not.

The Elcan RD would probably not have this problem if we didn't source out our work to other countries when we have excellent machinists up here that could easily make a mount for this optic. Sadly the mounts for the Elcan RD were made in the US, perhaps Elcan will learn from this and have their mounts made in Canada where QC can be assured.
