Instructor: Aaron Roberts
Date: 11/7/10
Location: Cawthon Cartridge Club
Purpose: Examine the effectiveness and characteristics of various types of ammo on a vehicle

The class was hosted at the Cawthon Cartridge Club right outside of College Station, TX and the class had a very good turn out given the short notice that we had. Aaron gave a brief overview about where to shoot and where not to shoot a vehicle and why. With that, we dove right in with shooting various types of ammo through the vehicle. We started with .380 and progressed to 45ACP and then transitioned to rifles which were a 10/22 for shits and grins, an AK-47, and finally a JP308. Aaron and one of the other students put a couple rounds of 12ga buck and slug into the vehicle for posterity's sake.

Unfortnately we didn't get any photos of us shooting out of the vehicle, but we spun the vehicle around and put rounds through the windshield from the cabin.

After shooting out of the vehicle we worked out way to the front of the car and started shooting our way back in. Once again we started with the handguns and then progressed to the long guns

When we were sure we didn't have to move the vehicle again we went ahead and shot one of the wheels out

Lessons learned
1. There are no certainties when shooting into or out of a vehicle
2. .380 sucks when shooting into a vehicle
3. .22lr does better than one would think
4. even though it doesn't go through and through, the inside of the vehicle would not be a fun place to be
5. stay behind the engine

Big thanks to Aaron for coming into town to teach the class, the students for coming, and Cawthon Cartridge Club for hosting the class
