But all the optic does is allow you to correctly assess where the bullet is going to go...how much does that even matter? I'll tell you...hardly at all. I have spent literally HOURS posing with my rifles without ever turning the red dots ON and they still look AWESOME. Why not use the clones?

Come to think of it, seeing as I run an N-cell Eotech on my primary, maybe I should get more in to posing in front of the mirror...would really help with the battery life if I could get in to an aspect of the sport which didn't require me to turn the thing on.
Full disclosure: I'm the editor of Calibre Magazine, which is Canada's gun magazine. In the past I've done consulting work for different manufacturers and OEM suppliers, but not currently. M4C's disclosure policy doesn't seem to cover me but we do have advertisers, although I don't handle that side of things and in general I do not know who is paying us at any given time.

Nah dude... you got it all wrong. It's your old lady we need to see posing in pics. I still remember that, "Who likes chicks with big Norcs" thread from years ago

Would I put it on a go-to rifle? Not a chance.

Exactly. I have the same problem with Primary Arms. Some guys on Arf seem to pimp their shit all day but if it's really worth a damn--why do you have to make it look so similar to higher-end optics? Real big turn off for me.

They have to make it look perty for the Official 22nd TOS pic thread and then follow up with the typical "Sorry for the crappy pics" comment
Its only until we have nothing that we're free to do anything

I have a Viper 3.5-10x50 scope on my rem 700 and the glass is really good. I've seen some of the strikefire and sparc models at work, and they look decent, even more so for the price. That being said I run an XPS 2.0 on my duty rifle as Eotech is a much more proven optic at this time. However on my hunting rifle I love the Viper that I have.

That truly drives me crazy to no end. It's almost like having a "Show your sports car" thread and someone posts a picture of a beat up Pinto - NO ONE would think the picture was acceptable nor would there be any bragging rights about it; yet, with guns, people post the same crap and think it looks "sexy." Even funnier is how they preemptively defend their photo from the get-go, as you pointed out. I'll never understand that flawed line of thinking...

With AR's, there's quality and then there's everything else.

I got thread locked over at ARF for this. I have heard mostly good things about vortex but I cant bring myself to put anything made in China on an AR. It just doesnt sit right with me. Yes their prices are good and some people dont have a problem with outsourcing, but I do. I will save my pennies and get a Leupold or Eotech. If they were made anywhere else than China I would consider them.

Wow, that is a blast from the past!

Still have the girl, sold the rifle though!

From what I've read and from talking to the LE rep at Vortex, the new "red only" model is brighter when switched fully on.
