sun burn makes great combat mindset lesson

So I'm on deployment in god-awful okinawa and we had saturday off.. so a bunch of us got a truck and went to the beach.. cool. no problem.

it was awesome, lots of beer, ocean, and sun, and then more sun.. then some more sun.

also i'd like to add at this point that my people hail from ireland and germany, the two palest races known to man..

needless to say i burn very well, very very well.

so i've had classes on combat mindset and i'd like to think i practice it fairly often if not all the time.. well when you have 2nd degree burns on half of your body.. you tend to avoid the casual slap or high-five or head rub. yes it hurts that bad. and the next person to touch me is going to get a high-five to the face.. already gotten in two kids and my chiefs face for touching or attempting to touch my leather/beef jerky skin.

so for now i look like mr. krabs and next week i'll be playing as the lizard man..

When I was in basic at Ft. Benning during the dog days of summer the DS's used to threaten us that if we got sunburned bad enough we'd get a counseling statement for either destruction/defacing government property and ultimately recycled. That used to scare the shit out of us. Especially me, being pretty much 100% German and in the running for whitest person on the planet.

I know the feeling man! On a side note, my dad still laughs when he tells me from his time in Okinawa, when they would write crap with sunblock on some unsuspecting sleeping/passed out Marine on the beach. So look at the bright side, at least you don't have "TWAT" across your forehead!
"Doc, can you check out this thing I got?"
    -Every Marine, ever.
