Bolts for Fort Knox Vault? Expolsive warning stickers to deter weld attack>

I have a Fort Knox Defender now and want to bolt it to the floor. Who makes the strongest bolts that I can get? I am looking for a legit real sticker that an expert would recoginize. Not sure if I want a "warning black powder", Highly explosive, fire works storage etc. Whats the most dangerous thing that I could get on a sticker so a smart thief would not use a welder to get in it? Where can I get legit signs?

this is about as "stay the **** away with open flame" as you can get.

i think you can get them here: http://environmentalchemistry.com/yo...ls.html#Div1.1 , but i'm not sure if there are licensing requirements for them or anything. i got mine from uncle sam...

as far as bolts, what are you bolting to? if you're going into concrete slab, you can redhead or epoxy all-thread- both are generally approved to secure structures to foundation walls, so they're most likely gonna hold your safe down. epoxied all-thread is preferable. if you're going into OSB sub-floor, with a crawl space beneath, and you REALLY dont want that ****er going anywhere, you can use bolts through a steel plate from the underside. and actually, just through-bolting through the OSB into butts of 2x6 would probably hold just as well. otherwise, just the weight of the safe being tipped, if they can get any kind of rocking motion, would probably be enough to pull the bolts through the sub-floor. if it's going in an upstairs room, with a drywall ceiling below, unless you want to demo the ceiling you're just gonna have to lag-bolt it to the sub-floor. CDX subfloor might hold tight enough to prevent getting a prybar under there, but it's not bomb proof. if it's an older house (30+ years ish), you might have a car-decking subfloor- tongue-in-groove 2x6 planks- these should hold lag bolts well.

I would use caution and thoroughly research what you are doing before using the 1.1x sticker on your safe (or anything else that doesn't actually contain HE).

I agree it would really "say something"...whether or not it would be taken seriously is another issue (and is not why I said to use caution either).

happen to know regs on displaying explosive hazmat placards? i've always operated under the assumption that it's probably not a good idea to throw a 1.1 magnet on your vehicle and drive around, but i've never bothered to look it up.

i think the OP is probably perfectly fine putting whatever he wants on his gunsafe, in the privacy of his own home, though.

Check out their stuff. You can also order your own custom signs for cheap too. hence the one I have by my user name.

I've got 49 CFR somewhere here in the office but I don't know off the top of my head. I'm quite sure that driving around in a vehicle marked for a hazard that it does not actually contain is not permitted.

There would probably never be an issue with it on a safe in your house, I was just imagining a scenario (in my mind about equal in probability to a thief entering with a welder/cutter/etc) where for instance if you ever had a fire and the fire department responded and entered the house, you might have some headaches. You'd possibly (probably?) avoid legal troubles but it might cause some short term discomfort.

you mean like when firefighters see the sign and hit the proverbial "abort" button, evacuate the neighborhood, and watch your house burn to the ground from 200 meters away? i suppose that would suck

That is what I was imagining, as a possible scenario. Even worse, a child in the burning house, and once that placard is seen, the firefighters' search is over. That would definitely be a bad day.

I agree. I think putting such a sign on a safe is dumb on many levels.
