Grade 8. What diameter? A couple things to think about are using anti-seize, a washer and the proper torque. You may also want to use an all thread instead, in conjunction with a washer and nut, again, torqued to the proper amount of ft lbs and use anti-seize as well.

I believe you'd be alright if the safe was in a closet, or similarly hidden from view. I don't think firefighters are going to go searching through every closet if your house catches on fire. A burglar probably will, however.

How about a life size picture of Rosie O'Donnell or Michelle Obama taped to the safe.
That ought to keep everything but the flies away.

I always suggest a sign that says "Jehovahs Witness Reading Materials"

That'll keep everyone from taking interest in the contents of any container.

It's from working on jets and some other whiz bang stuff Seizing a nut on to all thread or a bolt, also known as galling, is a severe frickin' pain when it comes time to get them off!

Side note - I'm in your neck of the woods, Portland, for the night. Or hippie dippy patchouli-ville from the looks of it

Actually if firefighters are searching your home they will check everywhere. Kids will hide in the most unlikely places. In truth whenever I've searched in a fire structure reading signs was the last thing on my mind. However, a hissing dive bottle or propane cylinder will definitely get your attention and may indeed "hinder" the search of your structure.

Where can I get legit signs?
When talking about your average burglar, those statements in red are in conflict with reality.

I agree that the above sort of stickers would be dumb on a few levels. First thing I thought was that type of sticker would only serve to make your safe even more interesting to potential thieves. Like some of the others, second thing I thought about was the FD aborting a search, evacuating your residence and the neighbors on sight of the placard, and watching it burn. And yes they will look in closets...

If you can, put your safe in a corner and bolt it to 2 walls and the floor. Make sure to follow manufacturer’s recommendations so as not to compromise the fire rating.

PS have you seen THIS? Had that safe been bolted into a corner with the left side against a wall, it would have taken much longer to get into.

OC has no affect on 5% of the population. And after you've been sprayed with enough, it only becomes a mild annoyance. An N95 rated mask (dust mask available from 3M) is enough to keep this stuff from bothering you. Don't put all your trust into OC.
